Testing WFN 2.0 Alpah4

Aug 12, 2015 at 11:29 AM
Lately I often get a WFN fatal error at Windows start or when it restore from sleeping and then WFN stopped working. Another fatal error apears at that time if I start it again manually.
It looks like something has changed in the system with latest system updates

Windows 7x64 with all updates

Best regards

Is this still happening for you with the latest V2.0 alpha 8 release?

I've installed latest version alpha 8 recently and so it far looks OK on Windows 10. I didn't try it on oldest windows versions where I had problems with v2.0 alpha 4.

Now I activate v2 on my Windows 7 64x computer to leaving rules from v1.9 active. It looks like everything is ok, only on clicking "maps" i get constant FATAL error (see pic.)

Looks like you didn't install the database version, so it doesn't have IPs to go by, so it won't work. When you go to the download page, you will see 2 versions, one with database and one without.

Honestly though, I think the map feature should be taken out. I never seen any sense on what use it has and most people aren't even going understand what to do with it or what to even look for.

I have "full" version files (incl. database) in same map as wfn.exe an other exe files. This is apparently not the problem. My Windows 7 systems is also updated. (NET.Framework 4.6.1).

I may have found the cause of the second problem; I'm working on a fix. Also, I'm investigating what is causing the first crash.

Probably the cause is yust the fact, that at first time I've probably started WFN as ordinary user. Recently I've disabled and enabled it again as system administrator and now map works.

Another problem today. When I start Netscan.exe ( https://www.softperfect.com/products/networkscanner/?from=auto ) a dozens of Notifier.exe error messages begin appearing and new Notifier processes starts all again. In a couple of minutes computer is unresponsive (frozen). WFN has been activated before with administrative rights.
