I have long searched for a lightweight, straightforward 2-way firewall solution for Windows that doesn't consume system resources like the Zonealarms of this world do.
WFN is just what I was looking for, although it is unfortunate that Microsoft itself has not integrated these features (default block, allow on demand) for outgoing connections in its firewall.
Anyway, for some reason it doesn't work for me on Vista (while it does on Win 7). More details on that in the issue (https://wfn.codeplex.com/workitem/1713
Looking for the root cause, I have been tinkering with auditpol.exe to enable more firewall event logging (as Home Premium does not come with the policy editor), but to no avail so far.
I don't know if opening an issue (https://wfn.codeplex.com/workitem/1713
) was the right thing to do, but at any rate I am looking for a solution and would appreciate other views as well as
those of the author on this issue.
